The Obama administration was considering a bill that would charge veteran’s insurance companies for medical care related to treatment of combat and service-related injuries. I don’t know whose idea that was, but it was met with extreme criticism from Veteran’s groups and military members. A third party billing system would make insurance more costly and difficult for veterans to obtain – in many cases leading to financial hardship and a lack of heath care for many veterans.

Even with all the criticism the plan received, it looked like the Obama administration was going to push the bill through. Thankfully, wiser minds prevailed and the plans were scrapped at the last minute.

The right decision was made here. The government sent military members off to war and the governemt should be responsible for the associated health care. Our veterans deserve that much and more.
